I think, for me, my least favorite question in high school was “what is your plan for after you graduate?” or some variation of that. This question would bug me because I didn’t know what I wanted to do after I graduated, still don’t. My answer was always “I’m not sure” or “I don’t know”. One of the reasons that I wanted to go to a public high school was so that I could maybe find my place in the world. I tried a lot of different things. I tried coding or programming. While I enjoyed this balance between complex puzzle solving and creativity, this is a very precise field where a single error could crash an entire project. Not to mention that finding a way to fix an error was a new level of frustrating. I tried welding. While I wasn’t bad at it and found it enjoyable, I didn’t really find it to be furfilling enough to try to pursue a carrer out of it. Ultimately, I decided to take a gap year to try to figure what I wanted to do.

I brought this idea up at my life group as well and the idea was well supported by the other members. A few weeks later, my youth pastor, Luke, who was the leader of our life group approached me and my parents about some gap year programs. One of which was the this Gap Year program through the world race. We talked for about an hour, and this seemed like a good fit for me. He said that I would have the rest of my life to do school and work, but trips like these are not only a once in a life time opportunity to travel, but to grow deeper in my faith with God in a way that can’t recreated here.

After looking at the trips that were offered, I decided to go on the trip that focused on evanglism. The reason for this is because this is somthing that I am not good at. Most, if not all, of my friends are Christians and so talking to non-Christians about Jesus is something that I would like to work on. This is why I want to go on this trip.
